Top Tip Many old crimes were reported in newspapers, a lot of which we would consider quite trivial today. Very little Surname indexing has been done at libraries & record offices. This means you could spend an eternity looking for a possible story, the trick is to establish the date of any trial as it was usually in the papers within a week of a trial.
A number of my reports have a trial date, thus making locating a possible newspaper article much easier.
