Here we have this publication entitled The National Roll of the Great War 1914-1918 LONDON Section II on CD Rom covering LONDON (parts of, see list for coverage) PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE AREAS COVERED IN SECTION II ALSO APPEAR IN SECTION I AND SECTION III (BUT THE SERVICEMEN ARE NOT THE SAME ONES)
It was produced circa 1920 by the National Publishing Company, it was the companies initial intention too produce these Rolls of Honour to cover the whole country.
However they went into liquidation not so long after they began to produce them, a total of fourteen areas were produced before the companies decline.
They are set out alphabetically by surname, they contain a variety of details about each serviceman, including medals awarded.
They also contain an address for each entry, this would be the address of either the serviceman himself or his next of kin.
HERE IS A TYPICAL EXAMPLE
PATRICK R. PRIVATE 1/10TH MIDDLESEX REGIMENT.
He volunteered in 1914 and in the following year was sent to France. He took prominent part in engagements at Delville Wood, Vimy Ridge and Ypres (where he was wounded). On recovery he was again in action at Vimy Ridge and was wounded and invalided home. On his recovery was engaged on various important duties at home and his demobilisation in 1919.
He holds the 1914-15 Star and the General Service & Victory Medals.
