The National Roll of the Great War 1914-1918 on CD Rom covering the Portsmouth Area.
It was produced circa 1920 by the National Publishing Company, it was the companies initial intention too produce these Rolls of Honour to cover the whole country.
However they went into liquidation not so long after they began to produce them, a total of fourteen areas were produced before the companies decline.
They are set out alphabetically by surname, they contain a variety of details about each serviceman, including medals awarded.
They also contain an address for each entry, this would be the address of either the serviceman himself or his next of kin.

He enlisted in January 1912, and was immediately on the outbreak of war in August 1914, was drafted to the western front, where he served through the retreat of the Mons.
He also took part in the Battles of the Marne, the Aisne, and Ypres, and many minor engagements and was severely wounded in action at Loos in October 1915. He was invalided from the Army in April 1916, and holds the Mons Star and the General Service & Victory medals.
