A RETURN OF THE REGIMENTS
WHICH WERE STATIONED IN THE
ISLES OF FRANCE & BOURBON
WAR OFFICE Return of the Regiments Which Were Stationed in the Isle of France and Bourbon, from the Period of Their Capture to the Latest Period at Which Can Be Given; Specifying the Names of the Officers Who Served with Those Regiments.

British rule (1810–1968)
Despite the only French naval victory (during the Napoleonic Wars) of the Battle of Grand Port on 19th and 20th August1810 by a fleet commanded by Pierre Bouvet, the Isles of France which we know today as Mauritius was captured on 3rd December1810 by the British under CommodoreJosias Rowley. Their possession of the island was confirmed four years later by the Treaty of Paris (1814).
This return provides the Surnames only of a number of Officers. It does not give service details but rather just confirms their presence.
Generally we like to provide our customers with an index of names contained in our software or at least respond to questions regarding confirmation of the presence of a name. This then would lead on to other information such as service number, rank, Service details etc.

However in this instance we are stuck because it only contains Surnames, so if we were to confirm that a particular surname is present then customers would be unlikely to buy this title as nothing esle could be gained by doing so.
Therefore we have decided to limit this index to Regiments & Ranks. If someone does require a surname check then we would consider it providing we had an assurance from you that you would buy this software should that Surname be present. I trust you understand.
Thank you
