The visual histories of Ruislip, Northwood and Eastcote parishes abound. There are earthworks surrounding a park that was probably formed when a Saxon thane was lord and the moat and mound of what was possibly a Norman motte-bailey castle.

The church and the Great Barn were built when monks of the Abbey of Bec lived where Manor Farm stands today and more than forty of the cottages mentioned in 16th-century documents can still be found amongst its housing. The area opened up in 1887 with the coming of the railway bringing builders and settlers.
