Stanmore lies between the Edgware Road on the east and Harrow on the west, and stretches northwards from Kingsbury to the Middlesex and Hertfordshire boundary.
The two Stanmore villages revolved around four large houses; Canons, the mansion of the Chandos family, Bentley Priory, now used by the RAF, Stanmore Park, home of the Drummond banking family, and Stanmore Hall. But Stanmore is also notable for the unusual parish church of Little Stanmore, a mix of Tudor and Baroque, which contains the sumptuous Chandos tomb.
