Twickenham, with its spectacular riverside frontage, has long been a favourite resort for Londoners. First there were the country homes far removed from the smoke of the City, and then came the day-trippers. Unfortunately most of the large houses are now lost, and their grounds and estates developed, but there is still much of the past to be seen.
