Once described as the ‘Farm of Briton’ by the Anglo –Saxon’s, the Walworth of today is a busy, built up sprawling urban area of shops, markets, churches and pubs. From beautiful 18th century buildings to stark concrete tower blocks this is a visual exploration of the long and fruitful history of this area of South London, first mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086.
Many of the photographs in this delightful collection of photographs have never been published before and are from the personal collections of Walworth’s residents. They open a window on a bygone way of life and offer a glimpse into a fascinating past.
